It is not clear how he came to be on the Medical Board list of 1842 when he was not registered, according to the Board's minutes, until 1844 - Ed.
He brought out three young women on the "Susan": Esther Hart (aged 21), and Anne and Harriet Hansard (aged 18 and 16), described respectively as a servant/cook, governess and nurse-maid.
He was the son of Rev James Traill of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland
His wife Elizabeth Windeyer was born in England in 1820 and died at Collaroy, Merewa NSW in 1866
His children were born at Kin Ross, his wife's parents' home at Raymond Terrace NSW
He ceased practising medicine in the mid-1840s when he became the manager at the Tenterfield Station, NSW
He is notable as a breeder of merino sheep |
