    Notes: It is not clear how he came to be on the Medical Board list of 1842 when he was not registered, according to the Board's minutes, until 1844 - Ed.
  • He brought out three young women on the "Susan": Esther Hart (aged 21), and Anne and Harriet Hansard (aged 18 and 16), described respectively as a servant/cook, governess and nurse-maid.
  • He was the son of Rev James Traill of Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland
  • His wife Elizabeth Windeyer was born in England in 1820 and died at Collaroy, Merewa NSW in 1866
  • His children were born at Kin Ross, his wife's parents' home at Raymond Terrace NSW
  • He ceased practising medicine in the mid-1840s when he became the manager at the Tenterfield Station, NSW
  • He is notable as a breeder of merino sheep
